These votive holders are remarkably translucent. After being thrown on the wheel, they are decorated by water etching, which means shellac is painted onto the surface of the dry clay and then a wet sponge is used to carefully wipe away clay particles, removing thickness anywhere there isn’t shellac.

These are one of a kind items - only these two were made.
