Hand thrown from porcelain, this vase was then water etched (a process where a resist pattern is painted onto leather hard or bone dry clay - after allowing the resist to dry, the surface is wiped with a damp sponge and a raised pattern forms under the resist) to leave raised circles, and dark blue underglaze was applied. It was glazed and fired, and then 22k gold luster was applied and it was fired again to mature the luster and bond it to the glaze.

We recommend items with gold be hand washed as the dishwasher is abrasive and can scratch the gold with repeated use.
